PG Free Paper Submission Guidelines

Free papers are accepted in any of the following specialties

  • Cataract
  • Community Ophthalmology
  • Comprehensive Ophthalmology
  • Cornea, Ocular Surface and External Eye Diseases
  • Glaucoma
  • Medical retina and Uvea
  • Neuro-ophthalmology
  • Oculoplasty, Orbit, Oncology and Ocular Pathology
  • Paediatric Ophthalmology & Squint
  • Refractive Surgery
  • Surgical Retina
  • Trauma

General Guidelines 

  1. Presenting author must be currently pursuing a post graduate degree (MD/MS/Diploma/primary DNB only)
  2. Letter from HOD for proof of residency is mandatory to be considered in this category. For DNB students, letter from HOD should categorically state that the student is not perusing secondary DNB.
  3. Fellows are not eligible to present under this category
  4. Profile update on kosonline.orgis mandatory before submitting your abstract.
  5. Each member can submit a total of 2 abstracts (as presenting author) under 2 different categories.

  6. All abstracts undergo an evaluation process.

  7. Based on the evaluation, a member can present a MAXIMUM OF 1 FREE PAPERS.

  8. The presenting author and the co-authors SHOULD be members of KOS (either ratified or non-ratified). A free paper can have one presenting author and up to 3 co-authors. At least one author should be a RATIFIED member of KOS.

  9. All awards in this category are given to the presenting author only.
  10. Author and institute or hospital affiliation in the title or abstract should not be mentioned, else will lead to automatic rejection.
  11. No new author can be added after the submission of a free paper.

  12. No change in presenting author will be allowed.

  13. Free paper duration is strictly 5 minutes Presentation exceeding beyond 5 minutes will attract reduction final scores.
  14. “Pre Recorded videos with voice-over audio” played as substitute to live presentation are not allowed
  15. The research should have been carried out in India.

  16. Single case reports should not be submitted as Free Paper. Submissions of Free Papers will not be evaluated if they are single case reports.
  17. The submitted paper should not have been published in any indexed journal or been accepted for publication.
  18. Papers presented in other conferences can be submitted.
  19. If any proven plagiarism exists the paper will not be considered for award and ALLthe authors will be debarred from submitting to KOS for the next 3 years.
  20. Name an existing co-author as the presenting author after taking consent
  21. No last-minute changes will be entertained
  22. An absence from the session without the prior information (at least 30 days before the conference) shall lead to debarment in the subsequent annual conference.

Awards

There will be a best paper award for each sub-specialty.

Submission Guidelines

  • Title – The title of the submission should not exceed 150 characters (including spaces)
  • Section – Choose the relevant sub-specialty

  • Synopsis/Abstract – Type the details exactly as you would want to be included in the programme book and SHOULD NOT exceed 700 characters (including spaces). Should include Purpose, Material/Methods, Results, Conclusion

  • If a paper is already submitted as a Free Paper – please send a email requesting to change the category to PG Free Paper ( Competitive ) along with letter from HOD ( Proof of residency ).
